An exciting opportunity has become available for a high-calibre graduate to work with the University, in partnership with Arcadis UK, in North West of England, as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership. The objective of the role is to integrate and improve Building Information Modelling (BIM)-based design workflows at Arcadis UK using Lean Construction techniques and principles. The post-holder will analyse existing BIM-based design workflows at the company and then develop, test and implement some Lean Construction techniques and principles to improve the workflows, raise awareness of BIM and Lean integration at the company and help Arcadis UK align its design workflows with its key stakeholders’ future ambitions.

The Role
You will work with experts from the University of Huddersfield’s School of Art, Design and Architecture in partnership with Arcadis Consulting (UK), through the acclaimed KTP scheme (www.ktponline.org.uk) to deliver a 30-month programme of research, design, testing and implementation of Lean Construction techniques and principles in BIM-based design workflows at Arcadis Consulting (UK) to help the company become a leader in Lean/BIM integration in its sector.
You will be employed by the University of Huddersfield but will be based at Arcadis Consulting (UK), in North West of England, working directly with senior company staff, as well as receiving additional mentoring support from expert University staff.
The Person
Applicants should hold a degree (2.1 or above) in in engineering, surveying, built environment/ management, and have a good understanding of production (design) management/IT systems in Built Environment. The successful candidate will have strong IT and analytical skills with a willingness to develop these further, knowledge of requirement analysis, process mapping and analysing techniques and be skilled in analytical problem solving, continuous improvement and basic statistics, alongside an ability to manage time and priorities. Excellent communication skills will be fundamental. Applicants with knowledge or experience on Lean Construction and/or BIM processes will be preferred.
Applicants who will require Tier 2 sponsorship under the Points Based Immigration System can only be considered if they meet all the requirements as a new entrant as the rate of pay for this post is appropriate for new entrants only.
