Fixed term for 2 years, 37 hours per weekThe School of Human and Health Sciences at the University of Huddersfield is looking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow to join an exciting research project examining the consequences for the health system of Nepal’s move to a federal government structure. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers working on a project funded by the MRC, Wellcome Trust and DFID under the Health Systems Research Initiative. The project is a collaboration between researchers at the Universities of Sheffield, Bournemouth and Huddersfield in the UK and the Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Science and PHASE Nepal in Kathmandu. This project will track, in real time, the massive health system reform process underway in Nepal as a result of the implementation of its new Constitution; in particular the shift to a Federal government system.
This is a two-year project working under the supervision of Prof Padam Simkhada, Associate Dean International and Professor of Global Health in the School of Human and Health Sciences at Huddersfield University.The successful applicant will have completed a PhD with at least five years post-doctoral experience and possess good quantitative and qualitative research skills. The candidate must have good understanding of Nepal’s health system and working knowledge and skills on Nepali languages. This is a UK based position which will require frequent visits to Nepal for research activities.
