The school is looking to appoint a highly qualified and experienced individual for the role of Head of the Department of Engineering and Technology. You will provide strong leadership in Teaching and Learning and in Research and will either already have achieved professorial status or will have sufficient academic reputation and achievement to be appointable to a professorial position in an area relevant to the department.
Major responsibilities are in the areas of recruitment, retention and development/management of courses, research, staff management and workload allocation. The role will support the university strategy and school plan to ensure that the department remains an economically viable, efficient and successful part of the school. You will also play a key role in the School Management Team and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
You will have experience in a senior academic role or a role with significant managerial responsibilities and be able to demonstrate successful experience in teaching and course development. A strong track record of research, commensurate with a professorial role, in an area relevant to a Department of Engineering and Technology is also essential.
Excellent communication, leadership and people management skills will also be essential to this role. The school would ideally like the post holder to take up the role from the beginning of January 2019.
