Duration of contract: Fixed-term for 2.5 years (30 months) with potential for a permanent role within CraftsmanTools Ltd.

The Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a qualified graduate to develop a "next-generation" automated production solution for Craftsman Tools and to transform their product design and management systems.
You will be responsible for managing the project and developing new production processes, product designs, and management systems through the utilisation of industrial analytics by working closely with the Managing Director and Applications Engineers at CraftsmanTools and Mechanical Engineers from the University of Huddersfield.
The position is funded through the acclaimed Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) scheme which is a Government-supported initiative, enabling graduates (KTP Associates) to work on exciting and challenging projects in a partnership between a business and a university. This is an opportunity to fast track your career by developing and managing a strategic project that has the potential to transform the Company.
You will be employed by the University of Huddersfield but will be based at Craftsman Tools, Otley, working directly with senior company staff, as well as receiving additional mentoring support from expert University staff.
Opportunities include:

- Attendance at management residential training programmes plus the
opportunity to register for a CMI Diploma in Management.
- Free registration for a part-time higher degree with support from University of
Huddersfield
- Membership of a relevant professional institute (e.g. IMechE, IET, etc.).
The Person
You should hold a 1st or 2:1 honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Design Engineering, Computer Aided Engineering, Production Engineering, Engineering Management or a closely related discipline. You will need to be a motived self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills along with experience and knowledge of mechanical design and development, utilising CAE tools and techniques to convert concepts into reality. Experience in manufacturing systems such as machine tools and automation, quality control including geometric tolerances and engineering drawing creation would be beneficial. Attention to detail and the ability to analyse data for statistical analysis will be important. You must be inquisitive with the ability to work responsibly, with enthusiasm and effectively with people at all levels. You will be self-motivated, well organised and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
