Permanent, part time hours of 0.4 FTE upwards
We have an exciting opportunity for Dental Therapists to join the Department of Allied Health Professions, Sport and Exercise as a University Practitioner. These are part time posts that will enable the successful applicants to deliver an inspirational learning experience to our undergraduate learners alongside their practice as Dental Therapists.
This University Practitioner role is open to Dental Therapists who are interested in educating the future workforce. You will work with experienced academic and professional services colleagues to develop and facilitate learners’ knowledge, clinical skills and professional attributes on a course that is contemporary, future-looking and enables graduates to meet the challenges of service users and service needs. Commitment to an innovative student-centred learning experience is essential.
You will be currently registered with the General Dental Council as a Dental Therapist. You will have either a Diploma or BSc in Dental Therapy (or equivalent). With a Master's degree in a relevant subject or equivalent (or ability to complete this within 12 months of taking up the role), you will be a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (or be willing to work towards this within 12 months of appointment).
You will bring subject and practice expertise in contemporary Dental Therapy. We would particularly welcome applications from Dental Therapists with an interest in excellence and innovation in clinical practice.
The post requires recent experience of teaching Dental Therapy within a clinical or higher education setting.
This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Regular status checks may also be required, depending on your role.
As a Practitioner we expect you to be actively engaged in practice in addition to your role at the University. This can be either through paid employment with another employer, paid consultancy or freelance work.
