Fixed term for 24 months, 37 hours per week
We are looking for a Social Research and Engagement Lead, to deliver an exciting Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Together Housing Group and the University of Huddersfield, which will drive and embed strategic change and innovation within the social housing sector.
The focus of the role will be on supporting the work Together Housing Group are doing to increase the energy efficiency and decarbonise their social housing stock. Whilst decarbonisation is a major engineering challenge there is an even greater challenge associated with designing the right way to work with householders to support the effective installation of new systems and measures. Whilst the sector is used to undertaking standard property investments (e.g., installing new kitchens and bathrooms), complying with the carbon reduction agenda requires significant changes in lifestyle and behaviour of tenants, as well as changes in the understanding and approaches of social housing staff. We are looking to recruit someone who is able to work with the team to help design people-centred approaches to support the retrofitting of social housing stock.
Drawing on evidence-led approaches you will coordinate an extensive programme of work which encompasses stakeholder engagement, piloting interventions, and the development and implementation of a model and toolkit for increasing uptake of decarbonising retrofit measures in the sector.
The Role
Throughout the 24-month project, you will conduct primary and secondary research to engage with tenants, Together Housing Group colleagues, and other relevant organisations in the social housing sector. This will underpin the design and development of an effective model, toolkit and communication strategy to increase the uptake of decarbonising retrofit measures across a wide range of groups. You will be responsible for project and change management, driving innovation and impact across not only Together Housing Group, but the wider sector.
You will lead the project as part of the nationally acclaimed KTP scheme (https://ktp-uk.org/) and will be upskilled via a personal development package to deliver this project using best practice in project management. KTP schemes are an invaluable way for talented graduates to fast-track their career development in their chosen sector and establish their position as the industry leaders of tomorrow.
The Person
The successful applicant will have a minimum of a 2:1 in a subject with a significant social sciences component (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Geography, Marketing), or a subject with a demonstrable social research component.
You will have industry and commercial experience in a professional customer/public-facing environment, with the ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative research, and utilise excellent communication skills to demonstrate findings. You will embrace principles of inclusion and diversity, taking an empathic approach to working with a broad range of tenants and other stakeholders.
The Company
Together Housing Group manages over 36,000 properties, providing a comprehensive range of support services which affect over 40,000 people’s lives over a huge geographical area in the North of England. Employing around 1,400 staff, Together Housing Group’s corporate vision is to offer consistently brilliant services, put social impact at the heart of everything and be a great place to work. Members of the Group include Together Housing Association, Together Homes, Together Energy and Newground.
