Permanent, full time
The Department of Design and Built Environment, within The School of Arts and Humanities, is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Product Design to support teaching within this important contemporary field.
As part of the innovative, award-winning Department you will join a supportive learning environment that delivers undergraduate through to doctoral level qualifications. Many of the staff in the Department contributed to the excellent REF2021 results and our work on impact was recognized as internationally significant and world leading. The Department offers outstanding facilities housed within the Barbara Hepworth Building allowing students to fluidly move between sketch ideation (in 2D and 3D) and physical prototyping using both hand and digital (3D printing, laser cutting, printing, stitching) workshops.
You will hold a Masters degree and have demonstrable teaching experience in Product Design, Industrial Design, or related discipline, together with subject expertise in Product Design and relevant practice experience in the field.
Experience of using advanced digital design software (such as Adobe Suite, Solidworks) and the ability to contribute to curriculum planning, pedagogical frameworks, course marketing and student recruitment are essential requirements of the role, along with a commitment to sustained continuous professional development.
We particularly welcome applicants with specialisms in ideation/concept development or detailing/visualisation who can contribute to our strategic ambitions.
Informal enquiries are welcome to: Dr Anneké Pettican via email: a.pettican@hud.ac.uk
If you are a current student at the University, you are welcome to apply for part-time roles of 15 hours or less per week, unless you are a part-time postgraduate student, in which case you can also apply for full time roles, subject to any visa requirements.
