The University of Huddersfield’s Institute of Railway Research (IRR) provides specialist research and consultancy to the UK and international clients. Our Team consists of specialist railway engineers and researchers, many of whom have extensive industry and rail research experience. We work across all sectors of the industry from heavy to light rail and from the infrastructure to vehicle engineering. Our work encompasses major research projects which shape the future of the industry at national or European level and sector specific research & development (R&D) or consultancy which helps our clients make strategic or tactical decisions.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our vehicle/track interaction and wheel-rail interface engineering team as a Research Fellow.
You will bring your knowledge and experience in advanced finite element modelling and dynamic simulation of non-linear mechanical systems, ideally in a railway or related environment together with the adaptability to apply your knowledge and experience to a variety of practical engineering problems. With a doctoral qualification in a relevant area, you will have a track record of delivering key aspects of research and development projects in relevant areas, together with excellent communication skills to help you present your work to a range of industrial and academic stakeholders.
As a member of the IRR team, you will have access to over £15m of advanced full-scale test facilities and will contribute to the development of these. Further information can be found at: http://www.hud.ac.uk/irr
