The Department of Media, Journalism and Film at the University of Huddersfield seeks to appoint an internationally recognised journalist or practitioner in the field of media sport. You will demonstrate a desire to teaching creative, technical and analytical skills in sports journalism in a digital world and thus to contribute to the Department's ambitious programme of expansion and its strategic goals of international excellence and leadership in the study of digital media and culture.
We welcome applications from practitioners across the field of media sport and sports journalism. Experience of working across platforms is essential. We particularly welcome applications from practitioners with experience of digital channels of media sport such as podcasting and social media platforms. The Department is committed to internationalisation and encourages applications from candidates whose practice has examined different local, regional and global contexts.
The Department is also home to the University's newly formed Centre for Participatory Culture www.hud.ac.uk/cpc. The Centre explores practices, motivations and manifestations of participation and the social, cultural, political, technological and economic premises and consequences of media convergence and participatory engagements. You will benefit from the Centre's collaborative culture and are invited to contribute to the Centre's industry engagement and knowledge exchange.

Our Department is home to the longest standing Sports Journalism programme in the United Kingdom as part of our exciting portfolio of undergraduate programmes in media studies, film studies and journalism, a Masters programmes in Participatory Culture and Social Media, and doctoral programmes in Media and Communication as well as Fan Studies. You will contribute to the delivery, management and development of these programmes and be able to evidence highest standards of professional practice and a strong potential to deliver outstanding teaching with the capacity to engage and inspire diverse student cohorts.
Practitioner posts at the University are offered as part-time posts (up to 0.5 FTE) alongside your career in the media industry.

Please note that the University cannot offer sponsorship for this role under the Points Based Immigration System. This is because the post is part-time (0.5 FTE) and therefore the rate of pay does not meet the requirements set by the UKVI.
